Among the top 6 European outdoor markets, only the Italian one is declining.
According to Eurostat data on overnight stays at European outdoor sites, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and Croatia remain at the top of the ranking.
France maintains its leading position in Europe, with over 141 million overnight stays (about one third of European overnight stays). Among the top 6 markets, the highest growth compared with 2019 was Germany (+20.9%), followed by the Netherlands (+19.9%).
Excluding the UK, for which no 2019 data are available, the majority of overnight stays (more than two thirds) is shared by the top 4 countries: France, Spain, Italy and Germany, the only ones exceeding 40 million overnight stays.
It should be noted that data for Italy differ from ISTAT figures (campsites and villages), as the Eurostat source classifies only facilities with NACE code 55.3 under camping, excluding 55.2 (tourist villages).
